Spine Surgery in China

Minimally invasive and complex spine surgery at Beijing's leading orthopaedic and neurosurgical centres — with a written cost estimate before you commit to anything.

Why patients travel to Beijing for spine surgery

Beijing concentrates some of the highest-volume spine units in the world. Disc herniation, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis and spinal deformity are all treated here at a scale that shows in surgical volume. Implants are now manufactured domestically to NMPA standards, and that single factor explains most of the price gap with Western hospitals.

Hospital fees are paid by you directly to the hospital. We charge a separate fee for coordinating your case, confirmed in writing before you decide to travel — never a percentage of your medical bill.

Indicative ranges for international patients, based on publicly reported figures and our own case experience. The final figure depends on how many levels are treated, whether domestic or imported implants are used, and how long you stay. Your actual cost is confirmed in a written estimate after our panel reviews your MRI and X-rays. Hospital fees are paid directly to the hospital; we never mark them up.

What your coordination fee covers

Procedures we coordinate

Endoscopic and minimally invasive surgery

Keyhole decompression through an endoscope for disc herniation and stenosis — usually a short hospital stay and a faster return to normal activity.

Instrumented fusion

Screws, rods and cages to stabilise the spine after decompression, using domestically made or imported systems — your surgeon explains the difference in cost and in evidence.

Deformity correction

Multi-level reconstruction for scoliosis and adult deformity, with intraoperative neuromonitoring and three-dimensional planning at high-volume centres.

Spine surgery in China — common questions

What international patients ask before sending their scans.

Do I really need surgery, or would conservative treatment work?
That is exactly what the second opinion is for. Many disc problems settle with physiotherapy, medication and time. Our panel reviews your MRI and your symptoms together and tells you honestly whether surgery is indicated, or whether you should try conservative treatment first.
How long until I can fly home?
After endoscopic or minimally invasive surgery, most surgeons clear patients for short flights within 7 to 10 days, and for long-haul flights after about two weeks. After a fusion, expect four to six weeks before a long-haul flight. Never book a non-refundable ticket before your surgeon confirms the date.
Can I choose between domestic and imported implants?
Yes, and your surgeon will explain both. Domestic implants are NMPA-regulated and cost roughly 40% less; imported systems from Medtronic, DePuy Synthes or Stryker are also available at a higher price. The choice is a clinical and financial one that you and the surgeon make together.
What happens if I need follow-up after I go home?
You leave with your complete records and imaging in your own language, including your post-operative plan and X-ray schedule. We arrange telemedicine follow-up with your surgeon and stay your point of contact afterwards.
